Cooper, Henry
lawyer, jurist, United States senator, was born Aug. 22, 1827, in Columbia, Tenn. He was elected to the state legislature in 1853 and 1857, and in 1862 appointed judge of the seventh judicial circuit of Tennessee; resigned in 1866. He was chosen professor in the law school at Lebanon, Tenn., in 1866, and resigned in 1867, when he moved to Nashville.
He was elected to rethe state senate in 1869 and 1870, and was elected to the United States senate for the term ending in 1877.
