Clitz, Henry Boynton

soldier, was born July 4, 1824, in Sackett's Harbor, N. Y. He was made colonel of the tenth infantry Feb. 22, 1869, and placed on the retired list July 1, 1885, at his own request, having been in the service forty years. He died Oct. 13, 1889.

CLITZ, JOHN MELLEN BRADY, naval officer, was born Dec. 1, 1821, in Sackett's Harbor, N. Y. He entered the navy as a midshipman in 1837; was promoted to rear-admiral in 1880; commanded the Asiatic station, and was placed on the retired list in 1884.
