Cameron, Henry Clay

educator, author, was born Sept. 1, 1827, in Shepherdstown, Va. Meanwhile he was principal of the Edgehill school in Princeton in 1851, and in 1852-55 tutor at the college.

He was made adjunct professor of Greek in 1855, associate in 1860, and since 1877 he has held the chair of the Greek language and literature in Princeton college. In addition he was instructor in French in 1859-70, and librarian in 1865-72. For more than twenty years he edited the General Catalogue of the College of New Jersey, and, in addition to cyclopædia articles and essays, including one on Jonathan Dickinson and the Rise of Colleges in America, he has published Princeton Roll of Honor, a list of the graduates of that college that fought in the war for the union; and The History of the American Whig Society.
