Cobb, Seth Wallace
soldier, merchant, congressman, was born Dec. 5, 1838, in Southampton county, Va. In 1861 he joined a volunteer company from his native county, and served throughout the war in the army of northern Virginia.
In 1867 he moved to St. Louis, Mo., commencing as a clerk in a grain commission house; and since 1870 has continued in that business on his own account. He is president of the Merchants' exchange of St. Louis; and president of the Merchants' Bridge company. He has served with distinction in the fifty-second, fiftythird and fifty-fourth congresses as a democrat.
