Cabot, George
United States senator, was born Dec. 3, 1751, in Salem, Mass. Before he was twenty-six years old he was elected a member of the provincial congress from Massachusetts, where he advocated those principles of political economy for which he was afterward distinguished. He was a member of the convention which formed the constitution of that state, and also of that which ratified the constitution of the United States. In 1791 to 1796 he served in the United States senate, and was one of the most distinguished members of that body. He died April 8, 1823, in Boston, Mass.
