Cable, George Washington

soldier, author, was born Oct. 12, 1844, in New Orleans, La. He is a writer of fiction who has reproduced with much success the life and dialect among the creoles of Louisiana. He served in the confederate army during the civil war, and is now a resident of Northampton, Mass. He is the author of Old Creole Days; The Grandissimes; Madame Delphine; Dr. Sevier; John March, Southerner; Bonaventure; Strange True Stories of Louisiana; The Creoles of Louisiana; The Silent South; The Busy Man's Bible; and The Negro Question.
