Burnham, Sherburne W

astronomer, author, was born in 1838, in Vermont. He was astronomer at Lick Observatory from its foundation to 1892; and is now connected with Yerkes' Observatory and the university of Chicago. He is the author of a number of scientific works, and has contributed valuable papers to current magazines. BURNHAM, THOMAS BROWNELL, manufacturer, was born Jan. 30, 1866, in New York city. He is a director in the Benedict and Burnham Manufacturing Co., Holmes, Booth and Haydens, brass manufacturers, and The Waterbury Watch Co., all of Waterbury, Conn. He is also a large stockholder and director in The Sixth Avenue railroad of New York city.
