Bucklyn, John Knight

soldier, educator, lecturer, poet, was born in March, 1834, in Providence, R. I. He received his education at the Greenwich and Smithfield academies, and the Brown university. He served for nearly four years in the civil war, and was captain of the Rhode Island light battery. For twenty-eight years he has been principal of the M. V. institute of Mystic, Conn.; and was pastor of the North Stonington baptist church. He has lectured extensively, and contributed both prose and verse to periodical literature.
