Brown, Edwin Lee
architect, business man, humanitarian, was born in March, 1827. In 1860 he moved to Chicago, where he was engaged in the manufacture of sidewalk and vault lights. He has held other positions, as president of the Western Sand Blast and Western Seed companies, and the gas company of Evanston; he has been president of the Young Men's Library association. He was active in establishing the Western Lecture bureau; and has been president of the Interstate Industrial exposition, the Illinois Humane society, and the American Humane association.
