Brooks, Micah
educator, jurist, congressman, was born in 1775, in Cheshire, Conn. He was a justice of the peace in 1806, and for twenty years thereafter was a county judge. He was a member of the New York assembly in 1808 and 1809; and was a representative in congress from New York from 1815 to 1817. He was a member of the state constitutional convention of 1821; and a presidential elector in 1824. He died July 7, 1857, in Livingston county, N. Y. BROOKS, NATHAN COVINGTON, educator, author, was born Aug. 12, 1819, in Maryland. He is a prominent educator of Baltimore, who, besides publishing an excellent series of classical text-books, chief among which are editions of Ovid's Metamorphoses and Virgil's Æneid, is the author of A Complete History of the Mexican War.
