Bronson, Silas
philanthropist, was born in Middleborough, Conn. He acquired a fortune, and among other bequests, left $200,000 to found a public library in Waterbury, Conn. He died Nov. 25, 1867, in New York.
BROOKE, A. L., farmer, horticulturist, state legislator, was born Nov. 29, 1847, near Lancaster, Ohio. For fifteen years he taught school in his native state; and in 1886 became a farmer and nurseryman in North Topeka, Kan. He has served as president of the American Association of Nurserymen; and in 1897 was elected a member of the Kansas state legislature.
