Bristow, James Tazewell
soldier, business man, was born June 1, 1837, in Bennettsville, S. C. During the war he served as a soldier, and rose to the grade of colonel. After the war he went into business in Timmonsville, S. C.; and in 1876 he was appointed auditor of Darlington county, which position he filled for several terms. In 1885 he was elected secretary of the Darlington Manufacturing company, one of the largest cotton mills in the south, which position he held until his death, on April 21, 1892.
