Bridewell, Lemuel Owens

soldier, lawyer, journalist, was born Nov. 2, 1829, in Port Gibson, Miss. He graduated from the Union college of Schenectady, N. Y., with the degree of A. M. In 1851 he was admitted to the bar; and the same year founded the Reveille of Port Gibson, Miss., of which he was editor until 1854. In 1854-55 he was clerk in the interior department; and judge of the probate and orphans' court of his county in 1855-58. In 1861 he became a captain in the confederate army, and subsequently was promoted to major. He is the author of several works, and still practices law in Beauregard, Miss.
