Bramlette, Thomas E

soldier, lawyer, jurist, governor, was born Jan. 3, 1817, in Cumberland county, Ky. He was appointed attorney for the commonwealth in 1848; resigned this position in two years, and resumed the practice of law. In 1856 he was elected judge of the sixth judicial district; and in 1861 resigned this office to enter the federal army as colonel of the third Kentucky infantry. He was appointed United States district attorney, and resigned to accept the nomination for governor; and was elected, in 1863, for four years. He died Jan. 12, 1875, in Louisville, Ky.
