Bennett, Granville G
soldier, lawyer, jurist, state senator, congressman, was born Oct. 9, 1833, in Butler county, Ohio. He entered upon the practice of law in 1859; and served throughout the war of the rebellion as a commissioned officer in the union army. He was elected a representative in the Iowa legislature in 1865 for two years, and to the state senate in 1867 for four years. In 1875 he was appointed an associate justice of the supreme court of the territory of Dakota; resigned in 1878 and was elected a delegate from the territory of Dakota to the forty-sixth congress as a republican.
