Becker, George Ferdinand
geologist, author, was born Jan. 5, 1847, in New York city. He is a geologist in the United States service; and the author of Geology of the Comstock Lode; Atomic Weight Determinations; Geometrical Value of Volcanic Cones; A New Law of Thermo-Chemistry; Geology of the Quicksilver Deposits of the Pacific Slope; and several lesser works. was BECKER, HARRY WILLIAM, born June 18, 1868, in Girardville, Pa.
He was educated in the common schools of his native place and at Ashland, Williamsport, and in a business college of Philadelphia.
He built the Palace theater in Girardville, of which he is owner and manager. He has been engaged with and interested in numerous theatrical enterprises; and is the owner and editor of the Footlight, a theatrical paper, and The Weekly Stem. He is an accomplished musician and leads a band numbering over one hundred men. He is a member of the board of trade of his city, and is interested in various business enterprises.
