Barry, William T. S

lawyer, legislator, congressman, was born Dec. 10, 1821, in Columbus, Miss. He was a member of the legislature from 1849 to 1851; was a representative in congress from Mississippi from 1853-55; was speaker of the state legislature in 1855; seceded from the Charleston convention in 1860; and was president of the Secession convention of Mississippi, and member of the Provisional congress. He entered the confederate army in 1861, and commanded the thirty-fifth Mississippi regiment from 1862 until captured at Mobile in 1865; he afterward practiced law in Columbus. He died Jan. 29, 1868, in Columbus, Miss.
