Ainsworth, Lucien Lester
lawyer, state senator, congressman, was born June 21, 1831, in New Woodstock, N. Y. He was educated at the common schools and at the Oneida Conference seminary, New York; studied law and was admitted to practice in 1854. In 1855 he removed to West Union, Iowa; was a member of the lower house and senate of the state for several years; and was elected a representative from Iowa to the forty-fourth congress. He entered the union army in 1862 as captain in the sixth regiment Iowa cavalry, and served for three years against the Indians in the northwest.
