Young, Jesse Bowman

soldier, clergyman, editor, author, was born July 5, 1844, in Berwick, Pa. He was educated in the Dickinson seminary, the Polytechnic college, Lafayette college and Dickinson college, graduating from the latter institution in 1868. During 1862-65 he served as lieutenant and captain in the eighty-fourth regiment Pennsylvania volunteer infantry, being on staff duty much of the time. He is the author of a volume of army reminiscences entitled What a Boy Saw in The Army. He is also the author of Days and Nights on The Sea; and a prize essay on Mental Culture a Christian's Duty. He is an eminent clergyman of the Methodist Episcopal church; and since 1892 has been the editor of The Central Christian Advocate, one of the greatest journals of that denomination.
