Wistar, Isaac Jones

soldier, lawyer, was born Nov. 14, 1827, in Philadelphia, Pa. He entered the national army in 1861 as a captain in a regiment of Pennsylvania volunteers, and served in Maryland and Virginia, and was commissioned brigadier-general of volunteers. After the war he resumed practice, and is now president of a canal company and several coal companies in Pennsylvania.

WISTER, MRS. ANNIS LEE FUR- NESS, author, translator, was born Oct. 9, 1830, in Philadelphia, Pa. She is a noted and popular translator of many German novels.
