Winslow, Warren
lawyer, state senator, congressman, governor, was born Jan. 1, 1810, in Fayetteville, N. C. In 1854 he was appointed a confidential agent to Madrid on business connected with the Black Warrior affair; and during his absence abroad was nominated for the senate of North Carolina. He was elected a member thereof, and placed in the chair of speaker; and while in that position Governor Reid was elected to the United States senate, and the duties of governor devolved upon him. He was elected to the thirty-fourth congress; and was reelected to the thirty-fifth and thirty-sixth congresses. He died June 11, 1862, in Fayetteville, N. C.
