Williams, Edward H
manufacturer, philanthropist, was born June 1, 1824, in Woodstock, Vt. He has traveled extensively for the Baldwin Locomotive works, of which he is a partner, and has introduced the Baldwin locomotives to Europe, South America, Australia and Japan. Williams Hall at Carleton college, Minnesota, was built by him and a sixteen inch telescope given to the institution in 1891. He has also presented the Norman Williams library to Woodstock, Vt., and, in memory of his wife, a building to the university of Vermont.
