Willard, John Dwight
lawyer, jurist, author, was born Nov. 4, 1799, in Lancaster, N. Y. In 1826 he began the practice of law in Troy, N. Y.; and was editor of the Troy Sentinel for a number of years. He served as a state senator; and as judge of the New York circuit court. He was the author of reatise on Equity Jurisprudence; Law of Real Estate; and other works. He left ten thousand dollars to Dartmouth college, from which he graduated in 1819. He died Oct. 16, 1864, in Troy, N. Y.
