Webb, James
lawyer, jurist, state senator, author, was born in 1792 in Georgia. He was judge of the superior court of Georgia. He was United States. district judge in the territory of Florida.
He resigned and moved to Texas in 1839; and was attorney-general of the state and secretary of state. He served one term in the senate; and after Texas became a state was reporter of the decisions of the supreme court of the state; secretary of state, and judge of the fourteenth judicial district, which position he held at the time of his death. He was the author of Reports of the Supreme Court of Texas from 1846 to 1848. He died Nov. 1, 1856, in Goliad, Tex.
