Weaver, James B

soldier, lawyer, congressman, was born June 12, 1833, in Dayton, Ohio. He entered the union army in 1861 as a private, and rose to the rank of colonel and brevet brigadier general.

He was elected district attorney of the second judicial district of Iowa in 1866; and was appointed assessor of internal revenue in 1867. He was elected a representative from Iowa to the forty-sixth congress; and was re-elected to the fortyninth and fiftieth congresses. In 1890 he was the candidate of the national party for the presidency of the United States.
