Watterson, Henry

soldier, journalist, congressman, was born Feb. 16, 1840, in Washington, D. C. He served in the confederate army. In 1867 he removed to Louisville, Ky., and became part owner and the editor of the Louisville Journal; consolidated with other papers, in 1868, under the title of the Courier- Journal, of which he became the editor.

He was elected a representative from Kentucky to the forty-fourth congress, to fill a vacancy, as a democrat. He is the author of Oddities of Southern Life and Character.
