Ward, Thomas

soldier, was born March 18, 1839, in West Point, N. Y.

During 1859-63 he was a cadet at the Military academy; he graduated and was promoted in the army to second lieutenant of the first artillery. He served during the rebellion of the seceding states during 1863-66, and was brevetted captain for good conduct and gallant services.

During 1873-77 he was professor of military science at the Union college of Schenectady, N. Y.; was promoted to captain of first artillery in 1876; assistant adjutant-general in 1884; and lieutenantcolonel and assistant adjutant-general in 1893. He received the degree of A. M. from the Union college.
