Vincent, William A
lawyer, jurist, was born Jan. 1, 1857, in Wheeling, Va.
He moved to New Mexico, and was appointed chief justice of the supreme court of New Mexico by President Cleveland; subsequently he was elected president of the New Mexico Bar association and received the democratic nomination for congress. He declined the nomination for congress, returned to Springfield, and in 1889 moved to Chicago. He was attorney for the company which built the Ferris wheel for the world's fair; and was the leading counsel for the defense in the famous Luetgert case.
