Turner, Erastus J

soldier, lawyer, legislator, congressman, was born Dec. 26, 1846, in Lockport, Pa. He enlisted in company E, thirteenth Iowa in fantry in 1864, and remained till the close of the war. He moved to Kansas in 1879: and was elected a member of the legislature in 1881, and re-elected in 1883. He was elected secretary of the Kansas board of railroad commissioners in 1883. He was elected to the fiftieth congress, and was re-elected to the fifty-first congress as a republican.
