Thruston, Gates Phillips

soldier, lawyer, was born June 11, 1835, in Dayton, Ohio. He was promoted major and assistant adjutant-general in 1863, and was brevetted colonel and brigadiergeneral of volunteers for gallantry. Since the war he has followed his profession at Nashville, Tenn.

THUMMELL, GEORGE HAMILTON, lawyer, legislator, was born Jan. 31, 1848, in Palmyra, Ill. He began the practice of law in Grand Island, Neb. In 1871 he was a member of the Nebraska constitutional convention; and six years later was elected state senator.
