Thomas, George M
lawyer, jurist, state legislator, congressman, was born Nov. 23, 1828, in Lewis county, Ky. He was elected county attorney of Lewis county, Ky., in 1854, and served four years. He was elected to the state legislature in 1859, and re-elected in 1861. He was elected commonwealth attorney for the tenth judicial district, and served six years; and also in 1868 and 1872. He was elected county judge in 1868; was elected to the legislature in 1872, and re-elected in 1873. He was elected circuit judge in the fourteenth judicial district in 1874, and served six years; and was appointed United States district attorney in May, 1881, and served four years. He was elected to the fiftieth congress as a republican.
