Story, William Wetmore
lawyer, sculptor, author, poet, was born Feb. 12, 1819, in Salem, Mass. His prose writings include, The Law of Contracts; The Law of Sales; Life of Joseph Story; Proportions of the Human Figure; Roba di Roma; The American Question; Fiammetta, a novel; Conversations in a Studio; and Excursions in Art and Letters. The Castle of St. Angelo; A Roman Lawyer in Jerusalem; Nero, an Historical Play; and a two-volume edition of Poems, comprise his verse. He and She: a Poet's Portfolio; and A Poet's Portfolio: Later Readings, contain both poetry and prose.
He died in 1895.
