Souder, Casper
journalist, author, was born Nov. 8, 1819, in Philadelphia, Pa.
In 1853 he became associated with the Evening Bulletin of Philadelphia, of which he was afterward an editor and part proprietor till his death. His History of Chestnut Street, which was published serially, has been praised for trustworthiness and originality of treatment. He died Oct. 21, 1868, in Philadelphia.
SOULE, MRS. CAROLINE AUGUSTA [WHITE], missionary, author, was born Sept. 3, 1824, in Albany, N. Y. She is the widow of a universalist minister; she entered the ministry herself, was the first foreign missionary of that denomination, and in 1888 was in charge of a congregation in Glasgow, Scotland. She is the author of House Life; The Pet of the Settlement; and Wine or Water.
