Smith, Reuben S
educator, writer, lawyer, politician, was born April 1, 1854, in Marianna, Fla. He received the rudiments of his education in the common schools of his native city, and graduated from the Howard university, from which institution he received the degree of LL. B.
He taught school for awhile, and for several years was the Washington correspondent of the New York Globe. He has filled numerous offices of trust in the United States government; was a delegate to the national republican convention in 1880; and is now one of the leading lawyers of Washington, D. C., practices in all the courts of the District of Columbia and before the government departments. -
