Sloan, George Beale

merchant, state senator, was born June 20, 1831, in Oswego, N. Y. He strongly supported the cause of the union during the civil war, and was four times elected to represent his district in the state assembly, namely, in 1874, 1876, 1877 and 1879, and was, during two terms, chairman of the committee on ways and means, and one term speaker of the assembly. He was also three times elected to the state senate and served continuously from 1886 to 1891.
