Shaw, Leslie Mortimer

lawyer, financier, was born in 1848 in Lamoille county, Vt. In 1869 he moved to Iowa, taught school and attended Cornell college of Mount Vernon, from whch institution he graduated. He graduated in law from the Iowa Law school of Des Moines, and in 1876 began the practice of law in Denison, Iowa. He is also successful financier, owns two banks, a and has loaned over two million dollars on Iowa farms. He has taken an active part in the business and public affairs of his adopted state, and in 1896 was republican nominee for governor of that state.
