Scofield, Glenni W
lawyer, jurist, state senator, congressman, was born March 11, 1817, in Chautauqua county, N.
Y. In 1850 and 1851 he was a member of the Pennsylvania assembly, and from 1857 to 1859 was in the state senate. In 1861 he was appointed president judge of the eighteenth judicial district of the state. In 1862 he was elected a representative from Pennsylvania to the thirty-eighth congress; and was re-elected to the thirtyninth, fortieth, forty-first, forty-second, and forty-third congresses as a republican.
He was register of the treasury of the United States from 1878 to 1881, when he was appointed an associate justice of the United States court of claims.
