author, was born Jan. 19, 1854, in Montreal, Canada. She is the author of Seven Years and Mair; The King's Page; Ethel Hamilton; Names that Live, a volume of biographies; Women of Catholicity; The Silent Woman of Alood; and many translations from the French, Italian and German.

SADLIER, MRS. MARY ANNE (MAD- DEN), author, was born Dec. 31, 1820, in Ireland. She is a prominent writer of Roman catholic Sunday-school tales, and wife of J. Sadlier, a New York publisher.

Among her many writings are, Alice Riordan; Red Hand of Ulster; The Daughter of Tyrconnell; and The Old House by the Boyne.
