Raymond, George Lansing

educator, author, poet, was born Sept. 3, 1839, in Chicago, Ill. He is a professor of oratory at Princeton college from 1881. His writings in verse include Colony ballads; A Life in Song; Ballads of the Revolution, and Other Poems; Sketches in Song; and Pictures in Verse. He is the author of The Orator's Manual; Modern Fishers of Men, a novel; Poetry as a Representative Art; The Genesis of Art Form; Art in Theory; Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture as Representative Arts; Rhythm and Harmony in Poetry and Music; and Ideals Made Real.
