Pynchon, William
author, was born in 1590 in England. He was a noted colonist of New England who founded the town of Springfield, Mass., in 1636. In 1652 he returned to England.
The Meritorious Price of Our Redemption, first published in 1650, excited a storm of controversy, and was publicly burned on Boston Common as an heretical book.
It was reprinted in 1655 as The Meritorious Price of Man's Redemption, or Christ's Satisfaction Discussed and Explained, with a rejoinder to Rev. John Norton's Answer; The Jewish Synagogue; How the First Sabbath was Ordained; and The Covenant of Nature made with Adam. He died in 1662.
