Pound, Thaddeus C
educator, legislator, congressman, was born Dec. 6, 1832, in Pennsylvania. For a number of years he taught school, and then was a bookkeeper. It was through his efforts that the city of Chippewa Falls was developed; and he was instrumental in securing its railroad facilities and in causing its river and other improvements to be made. He served four terms in the Wisconsin legislature; one term as lieutenant-governor; and has represented his district in the forty-fifth, forty-sixth and forty-seventh congresses as a republican.
In 1876 he was commissioner from Wisconsin to the Philadelphia exposition; and has always supported measures designed to promote internal commerce.
