Pendleton, George Hunt

lawyer, congressman, United States senator, was born July 25, 1825, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a member of the state senate of Ohio in 1854 and 1855; and was elected a representative from Ohio to the thirty-fifth, thirty-sixth, thirty-seventh, and thirty-eighth congresses. In 1864 he was nominated for the office of vice-president of the United States. In 1869 he was appointed president of the Kentucky Central Railroad company. He was elected a United States senator from Ohio for the term of six years from March 4, 1879. He died Nov. 24, 1889, in Belgium.
