Parker, Amasa Junius

was born June 2, 1807, in Sharon, Conn. In 1833 he was elected a representative in the New York state legislature; and in 1835 was chosen a regent of the university. From 1837 to 1839 he was a representative in congress. In 1844 he was appointed a circuit judge and vice-chancellor of the court of equity. Soon after the adoption of a new state constitution, he became a judge of the supreme court of New York. In 1859 he was appointed United States attorney for the district of New York. He died May 13, 1890, in Albany, N. Y.
