Paine, William
physician, journalist, educator, author, was born in 1821, in Chesterfield, Mass. He became professor of the principles and practice of medicine and pathology in the Eclectic Medical college of Pennsylvania, at Philadelphia; and became editor of the Eclectic Medical Journal in that city, and of the University Journal of Medicine and Surgery. He is the author of Epitome of the American Eclectic Practice of Medicine; American Eclectic Practice of Surgery, Obstetrics, and Diseases of Women and Children; and The Domestic Practice of Medicine.
