Norris, Moses
lawyer, congressman, United States senator, was born Nov. 8, 1799, in Pittsfield, N. H. In 1839 he was elected to the New Hampshire state legislature, and in 1840 was speaker of the house; and in 1841 was elected a member of the state council. In 1843 he was elected a representative in congress, where he continued four years. In 1847 he was again a member of the legislature, and speaker, and while serving in that capacity was elected a senator in congress, serving from 1849 to 1855. He died Jan. 11, 1855, in Washington, D. C.
