Niles, William Woodruff

bishop, was born May 24, 1832, in Canada. In 1857 he graduated from the Trinity college of Hartford; and in 1861 from the Berkeley Divinity school of Middletown, Conn. The same year he was ordained a deacon, and a priest in 1862. He then took charge as rector of St. Philip's of Wiscassett, Maine. In 1864 he returned to Connecticut and filled the chair of Latin language and literature in Trinity college. In 1870 he was consecrated second bishop of New Hampshire. He is the author of numerous Addresses and Essays; and for a while was editor of The Churchman.
