soldier, lawyer, jurist, was born July 27, 1836, in Hill Pleasant, Va. During the war he was a major in the confederate service, and was three times wounded. He has been county judge, circuit judge, and president of the state board of agriculture of Virginia.
He has practiced successfully in Williamsburg, Va .; and is now president of the bank of his city. He is the author of several works, and has contributed extensively to current literature.
