Murphy, Franklin
manufacturer, state legislator, was born Jan. 3, 1836, in Jersey City, N. J. In 1865 he founded the firm of Murphy and state legislator, was born Jan. 3, 1836, in Jersey City, N. J. In 1865 he founded the facturers of Newark.
Since then, his time, energies and great business capacity have been devoted, in the main, to the promotion of this trade. The Murphy in the main, to the sold all over the world, and the Murvarnishes are now which succeeded the firm in 1891, and of which Mr. Murphy is president, has factories in Newark, Chicago, St. Louis, and Cleveland, and transacts an enormous business. He has served as member of the Newark common council and of the New Jersey legislature; is now chairman of the republican state committee, and is active in each campaign.
