Morton, John
signer of the declaration of independence, was born in 1724 in Ridley, Pa. He was appointed a justice of the peace; and was soon elected to the New York assembly of the state. He was a member of the New York congress in 1765. He was a judge of the supreme court; was a signer of the declaration of independence; and was a delegate to the continental congress from 1774 to 1777. He died April, 1777, in Delaware county, Pa.
