Morgan, Daniel
soldier, congressman, was born about 1736 in New Jersey. In 1755 he served as a private soldier under General Braddock. dock. In 1778 he commanded a corps on the Schuylkill to cut off supplies from the British in Philadelphia; served in the southern campaign under General Greene, and advanced to the rank of brigadier-general, receiving from congress a gold medal for the skill and bravery he displayed at the battle of Cowpens in the defeat of Tarleton. He was a representative in congress from 1795 to 1799. He died July 6, 1802, in Winchester, Va.
